Your Garage
Garage Management
The Garage is your home base in TrackOut. It displays all your cars and gives you quick access to service records, track days, tires, setup, and parts for each vehicle. The Garage is the first thing you see after signing in.
Adding a car
Click the Add Car button to open the vehicle form. Required fields are Year, Make, and Model -- all other fields are optional during creation.
Your first car
A new account's empty garage doesn't use this form. It shows a four-step setup card at the top of the page instead, and its first step is where the car goes in -- a VIN to decode, a car from a connected MotorsportReg account, or year, make, and model typed by hand. Photo, window sticker, nickname, and drivetrain details are available when you edit the car or add another one. See the quick start for the whole flow, including how to skip steps and pick them up later.

Car limits by plan
The number of cars you can add depends on your subscription tier: Arrive & Drive (free) allows 2 cars, Club allows 5, Pro allows 10, and Factory allows 50.
Decoding a VIN
If you have your car's VIN handy, you can skip typing the year, make, model, and trim. Paste the 17-character VIN into the VIN field at the top of the form and click Decode (or press Enter). TrackOut looks the VIN up in the public NHTSA vPIC vehicle database and prefills the Year, Make, Model, and Trim fields for you. If the Nickname field is empty, a suggested nickname (like "2022 Porsche Cayman") is filled in too. NHTSA doesn't return a trim value for every VIN -- older or less-common vehicles may leave it blank, in which case you can type it in yourself.
A green "Decoded" confirmation appears below the VIN field when the lookup succeeds. Editing the VIN afterward clears the confirmation so you always know whether the current VIN has been validated. The VIN is optional -- you can always enter year, make, model, and trim by hand instead -- and it is saved on the car so you can refer back to it later.
Upload a window sticker
If you have the Monroney window sticker handy, use the Upload window sticker panel near the top of the Add Car form to pre-fill the form automatically. Accepted formats are JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF, and PDF up to 20 MB.
TrackOut extracts the following fields when present on the sticker: VIN, year, make, model, trim, exterior color, interior color, engine, transmission, MSRP, and optional equipment packages. When a 17-character VIN is extracted, TrackOut also runs it through the NHTSA vPIC database as a fallback to fill in any fields the sticker couldn't read.
A confirmation appears below the upload panel once extraction succeeds: Details extracted -- review before saving, or Details extracted + VIN verified -- review before saving when the VIN fallback fused additional data. The upload is non-destructive -- any field you have already typed into is left alone, so you can safely use the sticker to fill in the fields you haven't edited yet.
OCR allowance
Window sticker extraction shares your monthly OCR allowance with receipt scanning, so each sticker upload counts against the same quota.
Photo upload
When adding or editing a car, you can upload a photo. The built-in cropper lets you:
- Zoom in or out with a slider
- Choose an aspect ratio -- Original, 4:3, 16:9, or 1:1
- Re-crop an existing photo without re-uploading
TrackOut checks photo size, format, and integrity before upload -- oversized files, corrupt images, and iPhone HEIC photos are handled the same way in Add Car and Edit details.
In edit mode, photo changes are saved immediately. In create mode, the photo is uploaded after the car is created.
Navigating your garage
Garage home
The Garage home packs your next track days, fleet status, and service work into one dense screen:
- A greeting band shows the current date and a time-of-day greeting. On wide screens it also carries Quick add and Add a car; on phones and tablets those move into the header's + button (see Mobile below), so the greeting stays a single compact band.
- Fleet status chips summarize how many cars you have, how many need attention, and the next upcoming track venue when one is scheduled.
- Up next -- When you have nothing booked and nothing due, a single Up next card says so once, with Browse events and Service schedule links. On a wide screen it sits in the right-hand rail so Your Garage stays in the left column. The separate Upcoming events and Upcoming services sections return as soon as you have something in either.
- Upcoming events -- The two soonest in-window track days appear as compact cards with a date chip, countdown, event type, venue, organizer, MotorsportReg badge when applicable, and a weather footer when forecast data is available. When nothing is upcoming, Browse events opens the shared event catalog (no MotorsportReg connection required).
- Two-column workspace -- A dense car grid on the left shows each car's photo poster, Service or Ready status badge, year and odometer, and the next service callout. On the right, an Upcoming services rail lists due reminders and scheduled appointments, with a standing Track prep rail below it. On phones the rails stack above the car collection so due services sit at the fold instead of below the grid.
- Use the wide Add another car row at the bottom of the grid when you are building out a larger fleet.
Desktop
Your cars are listed in the sidebar on the left. Click a car to select it and view its dashboard. The selected car is highlighted with a checkmark.
Mobile
On smaller screens, a car switcher appears at the top of the page. Tap it to open a dropdown with all your cars. You can also add a new car from this menu.
The header + button
Every page carries a compact header: the menu button on the left, then the TrackOut logo and the page name, with a teal + on the right. Tap the + and it turns into an × while a menu opens with everything you can create from anywhere in the app:

Car dashboard
Selecting a car opens its detail page. Use Your Garage at the top to return to the fleet home.
Hero
The hero is a slim rounded band -- car photo, then nameplate and stats on one line -- so the Logbook starts near the top of the page:
- A Ready or Service status pill on the photo -- amber when a service reminder is overdue or due now, teal when nothing needs attention (matches the badge on the garage car grid).
- Nameplate, then a spec line of year, make, model, trim, and color; tap the photo to open the lightbox.
- A + N specs chip appears in the spec line while engine, drivetrain, or VIN are still blank. Click it to fill them in.
- Glanceable stats: Odometer, Owned (years in your garage), and Services (logbook entry count).
- Actions: Details (opens the Edit details drawer), Share car, and a "..." menu with Delete Car. On phones they become one full-width row. Checklists moved out of the hero into the glance panels below.
Up next, Punch list, and Checklists
Three glance panels travel together and re-arrange with the window so the Logbook always stays close to the top:
- Wide screens -- a sticky rail on the right of the Logbook, so the panels stay in view while you scroll the ledger.
- Medium screens -- all three side by side in one row above the Logbook.
- Phones -- one panel at a time behind a Up next / Punch list / Checklists strip. If nothing is due but the punch list has items, the strip opens on Punch list so the empty reminder panel does not hide the work.

Logbook tabs card
The seven tabs below are wrapped in one card -- tab strip, toolbar, and content share a single border:

Photo storage and visibility
Public uploads are available on every plan. A public photo can be attached to an event, a car, or both. Free accounts can keep up to 1,000 public photos and upload up to 100 public photos per day; paid accounts can keep up to 10,000 and upload up to 500 per day.
Photos marked Only me must be attached to at least one car. Free includes 10 private photos per car, while Club and higher plans include 250 private photos per car. If you move to a lower plan while over its private limit, your existing photos stay available to view, delete, or make public, but new private uploads remain paused until the car is back under the limit or you upgrade.
Garage Up Next
On the Garage home, the Up Next card brings fleet-wide attention items into one place:
- Next track day -- Shows the upcoming event, assigned car, venue, organizer, weather, and a View action.
- Track Day Prep -- Appears inside the event row when prep is available, with grouped Car / Tires & brakes / Paddock & driver steps and a Mark all ready action.
- Next appointment -- Highlights scheduled service visits separately from ordinary due reminders, with quick actions to reschedule or open details.
- Service due -- Groups overdue and due-soon service reminders that are not yet booked, with Schedule, Log, and Delete actions. Log opens completion choices: quick log to the Logbook, create a full service record, or close the reminder without writing a logbook entry. On quick log you can optionally attach a receipt or photo (PDF or image) that is saved with the Logbook entry; the full service record form has its own attachment step. Delete removes the reminder after you confirm -- the service is not logged to the car's history.
If you schedule an unbooked service from Up Next, TrackOut temporarily promotes it into the appointment area so you can set the visit time. Saving the visit keeps it as a real appointment; undoing the draft leaves the reminder unchanged.
Up Next stays focused on work that needs attention soon. Far-future unscheduled reminders live in the fleet-wide Service Schedule instead, while booked appointments remain visible even when their date is farther out. Per-car service work also appears on each car's Up next panel on the car detail page.
Pre-event prep
When you have an upcoming track day, TrackOut folds a Pre-event prep check into that event -- both on the Garage's Up Next card and on the Events calendar. It checks the assigned car's tires, brake pads, and wear-tracked parts so you can see what needs attention before loading the trailer.
- Cars with critical items are expanded by default.
- Items are grouped by OK, warning, critical, or unmeasured status.
- Prep lives on the event row itself -- there is no separate card, even for manual track days or weekends that are already in progress.
- Haven't picked a car yet? The event asks "Which car are you running?" so you can assign one in place.
If a weekend is happening right now, the event row reads In progress and its prep stays in the single Up Next card instead of appearing as a second standalone prep panel.
Garage tiles can also show a Wear critical chip when a car has critical tire, brake, or part wear. See Wear Tracking for the full workflow.
The Edit details drawer
The Details button in the car hero opens a right-side drawer with the full car editor -- photo, identity, insurance policies, track-day insurance partner links, build-sheet customization, and public profile settings. The drawer also includes the car auto-fill tools: VIN decode, window-sticker scan with a field-by-field review step, and Research Director build-sheet generation. On phones, the drawer opens full-width so Year, Make, Model, VIN, mileage, and insurance fields stay fully visible. The Share car button opens the public profile share dialog, where you can preview the page, copy the link, and choose a profile style. See Sharing.
Editing a car
Click Details in the car hero to open the right-side drawer and edit the car photo, nickname, mileage, specifications, insurance, build-sheet rows, and public profile settings. See The Edit details drawer for the full list of what you can change from this surface.
Deleting a car
The "..." overflow menu in the car header holds a Delete Car action. Clicking it opens a confirmation dialog -- you'll see the car's nickname (or year/make/model) and a summary of what gets removed. Confirming archives the car (soft delete) and returns you to the garage; the car is hidden from your garage, fleet lists, tire locker, receipts, Crew Chief car pickers, and other owner-wide surfaces, but the underlying data is retained.
Soft delete vs. permanent delete
Delete Car from the three-dot menu is a soft delete -- the car is hidden from your garage but the underlying data is retained, so contact support if you need to recover a car you deleted by mistake. To permanently remove a car and every associated record (track sessions, laps, telemetry, brake-pad notes, tire events, service records, todo items, research, and AI advisor history), use the Danger Zone at the bottom of the car detail page. See Permanently deleting a car below.
MotorsportReg integration
Connect MotorsportReg from Settings, from the first-run setup card, or from the Add your first car form as an alternative to typing year, make, and model. Once connected, TrackOut can discover vehicles from your MSR profile. When unlinked MSR vehicles are found, a discovery panel appears at the top of the garage.
From the discovery panel you can:
- Link an MSR vehicle to an existing car in your garage
- Create a new car pre-filled with MSR vehicle data (year, make, model, and photo)
When adding a new car, a dropdown lets you optionally link it to an unlinked MSR vehicle. If MotorsportReg provides a vehicle photo, TrackOut carries that photo into the new car so it appears in your garage immediately. In edit mode, you can see which MSR vehicle is linked and unlink it if needed.
Quick Add
Use the Quick Add command palette from the garage to add common items without opening the full feature page first. If you have more than one car, choose the car first, then pick what to add:

Quick Add is designed for fast capture. Use the full service record, tire inventory, or parts inventory forms when you need every available field.
Permanently deleting a car
The Danger Zone at the bottom of the car detail page lets you permanently remove a car along with everything attached to it -- track sessions and lap data, telemetry, brake-pad and tire history, service records, parts links, todo items, research sessions, and Crew Chief AI advisor messages for that car. Once confirmed, the deletion cannot be reversed.
To start the deletion, click Delete car forever. A confirmation dialog opens that requires you to type delete forever (lowercase, exact match) before the destructive button enables. After you confirm, TrackOut drains the associated records in batches behind the scenes, then redirects you back to your garage.
This is irreversible
There is no undo and no support recovery for a permanently deleted car. If you only want the car off your garage list, use Delete Car from the three-dot menu instead -- that is a soft delete and your data stays intact.
Beta feature
The Danger Zone is currently rolling out to a subset of users. If you don't see it on your car detail page, soft delete is your only deletion option for now.
Logbook tab
The Logbook tab is the landing page for each car -- a full-width sortable table of every service record on the car. It highlights:
- Search -- Match records, parts, and vendors as you type
- Type filter -- Multi-select dropdown with per-type counts and a Clear filter action
- Sortable columns -- Date, Mileage, Service, Vendor, and Cost; default is most recent first
- Row actions -- A three-dot menu on every row for Edit, Repeat, Merge, and Delete
- Toolbar actions -- Receipt scanning, Log service, and a more menu with Smart Import, CSV Import, and Export CSV
For the next due service on a car, look at the Up next panel on the car detail page or the fleet-wide Service Schedule.
Upcoming events
Upcoming events are included in the Up Next card so track days, appointments, and due service stay together. Click View on an event row to open its details, or use the garage's event actions to create a new one. See Events & Calendar for more details.
