TrackOut in ChatGPT

TrackOut's ChatGPT plugin is being prepared for public launch. During testing, account linking may be limited to invited accounts. A public listing link will appear here once publication is complete.

Prepare for your next track day

Start with: “Get my car ready for my next track day.” Share the car, circuit and event date when asked. You can get public track facts and discuss general preparation before creating an account.

Connect a free TrackOut account when you want to use your saved garage or save preparation. If your garage is empty, ChatGPT can propose adding your first car and wait for your approval. You can also skip car setup and save a checklist without a car.

With a saved car selected, ChatGPT can review recorded readiness, maintenance, installed components, dated wear measurements and your event. Look for a short brief covering the car and event, what needs attention, what evidence is unknown or stale, and the next actions.

Then ask: “Show me a preparation checklist I can save.” Review its name, car and event association, and items before approving. New items start unchecked. Confirm completed work before asking ChatGPT to mark an item done; a suggested inspection is work to do, not evidence that it happened.

After connecting, return to the original ChatGPT conversation and continue the task there. You do not need to manage OAuth credentials to use an approved public listing; manual server registration is a private testing step. Public publication is still pending.

Start without an account

Track lookup does not require a TrackOut account. Ask for a track by name to see reference information. Check the event organizer's rules separately: track facts do not establish event requirements.

Connect your garage

When a question needs saved cars or preparation records, ChatGPT asks you to connect TrackOut. Continue with Google, Apple, or an email sign-in link. The same options work for new and existing accounts. For email, open the link in the browser where you started connecting.

Already have a TrackOut password? Choose Use a password and sign in with your existing email and password. Your password stays with TrackOut; ChatGPT receives only the read, write and optional deletion permissions shown after you review and approve the connection. Never send your password in chat. You can switch back to an email link without re-entering your email address.

Review the account shown and the requested permissions before connecting. A new account may also need to accept TrackOut's terms. Adding a first car is optional; you can connect an empty garage and add a car later. No payment is required to connect.

A read-only connection can read your profile name, cars, preparation checks, maintenance status, service records, installed parts, brake-pad and tire inventory, dated wear history, garage inventory, event-specific preparation, track days, sessions and active checklists. It cannot change your garage.

A connection with read and write access can also make approved changes:

Saved informationWhat you can change
CarsAdd a car; edit its nickname, make, model, year or mileage; archive it while keeping its records
Track daysAdd a day for a car; edit its date, track name, description or notes
Service recordsLog service; correct its name, type, date, mileage, cost or notes and its linked maintenance evidence; permanently remove a mistaken record after explicit deletion approval (requires separate deletion access)
ChecklistsCreate or rename a list; link it to a matching saved track day; add an item; edit its text or explicitly mark it done or not done; archive the list with progress retained; permanently remove a mistaken item after explicit removal approval (requires separate deletion access)
General partsAdd a part in stock; edit its details, wear configuration, life limits or label dates; install/remove it with dated history
SessionsLog/edit a session with conditions and lap summary; complete it to credit usage; reopen before correcting usage
Tires and setsCreate spare sets; group existing tires; edit tire/set details; record confirmed fit/unfit, rotations and replacements; retire/restore sets
MeasurementsRecord dated brake-pad thickness, tire tread depth or a configured part wear reading

Ask ChatGPT to show the intended record and proposed details before you approve each change. Existing garage plan limits apply. Dates need an explicit calendar day; confirm the year and date when using phrases such as “next Friday.” Service mileage can advance the car's odometer, and changing a track day's date keeps its linked day measurements aligned.

For example:

  • “Add my 2020 BMW M3 as Weekend car, then rename it to Track car.”
  • “Create a track day for Track car at Palmer on October 12, 2026.”
  • “Log an oil change for Track car on October 4, 2026 at 42,000 miles.”
  • “Create an October prep checklist, add Check tire pressures, and mark that item done.”

When logging or correcting a service, ChatGPT can link installed parts and products used, including quantities and units, and reuse a known saved vendor/shop ID. A supplied parts or products list replaces that list; ask it to preserve existing links when adding another item. It can attach an existing owned receipt to a service without one; it cannot replace receipt evidence or upload a receipt here.

For a part removed on its installation day, ChatGPT may need the removal time and timezone to preserve ordering.

For a saved event, ask for preparation through the end of the event. TrackOut includes configured installed-part wear and life checks alongside the dashboard checks, and reports when some components were not read.

Session start timestamps need a timezone offset. Duration is in minutes; best lap is in seconds. Completing an actually driven session credits component usage. Reopening reverses those credits so you can correct the session and approve completion again. Archiving cars or checklists keeps their records; restore them in TrackOut. General-part tools do not create or fit dedicated tires or brake pads; use the dedicated tire tools for tires and the app for pads.

Permanent corrections are limited to mistaken service records and checklist items. Ask ChatGPT to identify the item, explain the effect and wait for your explicit approval before removing it. Removal cannot be undone through these tools; prefer editing a correctable record. Other permanent deletion, receipt uploads, payments and account changes use TrackOut.

View a circuit without an account

Ask “Show me Palmer’s circuit map and turn labels.” Choose the layout you want to see. The map shows TrackOut’s centerline, start/finish and saved straight/ turn annotations. You can pan and zoom, fit the circuit, change layouts and turn the labels or basemap on or off. Open in TrackOut opens the circuit’s public track page when your host supports links. Fullscreen gives the map more room when supported; use Exit fullscreen to return to the conversation. Your zoom, position and label choices stay in place when the host changes theme or display size.

If a map, layout list or basemap fails to load, use Retry. A failed basemap does not hide the circuit diagram.

Download PNG saves a transparent circuit diagram you can place over a map when your ChatGPT host supports file downloads. The button shows Downloading… until the host responds, then becomes available again; you can retry a failed download. The downloaded image does not include the basemap. Label characters the export font cannot draw appear as Unicode codes such as [U+65E5], rather than blank boxes. Missing start/finish or annotations are shown as unavailable. The centerline is not a racing line or driving instruction. Clients without the interactive viewer can still read the public geometry. Your saved telemetry and garage remain account-protected.

Upgrade an existing read-only connection

Older connections remain read-only. Refreshing their credentials does not add write permission. Refresh the TrackOut tools in ChatGPT when an updated connection is available, then request a supported change. Follow the connection prompt and personally approve read and write access on TrackOut. If ChatGPT keeps using the old connection, disconnect it in TrackOut Settings and reconnect through ChatGPT. Check the permission wording before approving; reconnecting to a read-only registration still gives read-only access.

ChatGPT reports a change as saved only after TrackOut confirms it. If a request times out, ask ChatGPT to retry the same operation rather than creating another copy. A changed request needs its own approval. If the change limit is reached, wait a minute and retry.

Record component measurements

Ask: “I measured the front pads at 8 mm today. Show me what you would save.” ChatGPT should identify the actual installed pad, clarify the measurement date and show its value and unit for approval. Multiple pads or corners may need clarification. A general part must already have wear tracking and a configured unit in TrackOut.

Brake thickness uses millimeters. Tire tread accepts millimeters or thirty-seconds of an inch: 5/32 inch is saved as 3.96875 mm. Recording a measurement updates the existing wear history and readiness evidence; it does not mark inspections or checklist work complete. A backdated reading stays in history without replacing a newer measurement. Recording wear does not change the car’s mileage.

For an event checklist, select the saved track day, then review its car and items. Removing the event keeps the checklist and clears that association. Linking a checklist does not move it to another car; review the link if an event is later reassigned.

Public track details identify the circuit and its active layouts. Circuit maps show the saved centerline, start/finish and authored turn or straight annotations; missing annotations stay unknown. Saved session details can include duration, laps, best lap and conditions. Missing values stay unknown, and saved weather may be an older forecast.

Understand preparation results

Preparation checks depend on recorded evidence. Missing measurements, old records and unknown maintenance status do not establish that a car is safe or unsafe. Inspect the car, record current measurements and follow organizer requirements. The plugin's retrieval time tells you when it read the data, not when a measurement was taken.

Two cars with similar names may require clarification. Checklists and events can span multiple pages. Maintenance calendar days keep the garage owner's timezone; calendar dates are not shifted into another day.

Disconnect

Open TrackOut Settings and find ChatGPT. Choose Disconnect for the connection you want to remove. This stops future garage reads, writes and token refresh for that connection. Information already shared in a ChatGPT conversation remains there. Connecting again creates a separate grant.

Connection recovery

If a connection link expires or opens in another browser, start again from ChatGPT in that browser. If access was disconnected, reconnect when ChatGPT asks. A temporary request limit may require waiting before trying again. Do not share passwords, API keys or connection tokens in chat.

An older connection may also need reconnecting after a security update. Start again from ChatGPT and review the requested permissions before approving the connection.

Support

Contact support@trackout.app for connection help. Include the general step that failed, without sending a complete connection URL or credentials. See privacy and terms.

Compare tires and sessions

Ask “How has this tire set's pace changed as it accumulated heat cycles?” ChatGPT can read TrackOut's tire-performance report for your car, including the comparison circuit, lap-time trends, rated cycles and recorded costs. It identifies missing baselines or incomplete history. Conditions and driving can affect pace, so a trend does not prove tire degradation or certify remaining life.

For “Compare sessions two and three,” ChatGPT can read individual lap times and validity, the recorded tire set and corners, conditions, cold/hot pressures, tire temperatures and tread readings. Times are seconds, pressures PSI, temperatures Fahrenheit and tread millimeters. Historical tire readings remain available for a live session after a tire moves to an archived car. Records with no saved set provenance are labelled approximate. Missing or truncated lap data is identified rather than filled in.

You can also approve a save such as “For session three, log these four hot pressures and middle tire temperatures.” ChatGPT identifies the session and exact tires and shows the values and units before saving. Cold/start and hot/end pressures, middle temperature and middle tread can be saved together. A saved tread reading uses the session date; for a measurement taken another day, give its actual date and use a dated tread measurement instead. Saving readings does not mount tires, add heat cycles or mark a session complete.

Refresh TrackOut's tool metadata and begin a new chat if these tools do not appear. An existing write-enabled connection already has the permissions it needs.

Manage tires

Ask “Add a spare set of four Cup 2 tires” and provide the car, sizes and any known starting tread or lifetime cycles. ChatGPT previews the set and its new tires for approval; they start unmounted. For existing tires, ask to group their explicit IDs into a set rather than creating duplicates. Different front/rear sizes can be recorded.

For “I fitted the spare set,” provide the actual tire-to-corner mapping and current odometer miles. ChatGPT shows every move and any tire occupying a destination corner before approval. The save preserves mounting history, mileage accrual and linked parts. It records work you confirm happened; proposing a swap does not perform or record it. Tire moves are within the selected car; use TrackOut for transfers between cars.

Take every tire off a set before retiring it, then supply the reason: worn, heat cycles, damaged or sold. Restore returns an archived/retired set to the shelf without mounting it or resetting its usage. Editing set membership never rewrites a session's recorded as-run set.

Read saved telemetry

Ask “Where did my last Palmer session vary most by corner?” ChatGPT can read saved lap speeds and GPS-derived corner snapshots: best segment times, segment spread, minimum/exit speed and brake-start distance when recorded. Times are seconds, speeds mph and distances meters.

Analysis is labelled current, stale or legacy unverified. Changed laps, source analysis or track layout can make a snapshot stale. Open that session in TrackOut Analysis to load and save current analysis before using it for verified coaching. Missing or incomplete data stays explicit. The connector reads saved evidence; it does not export raw GPS or run a fresh analysis. Compare matching cars/layouts and conditions rather than attributing every pace change to tires.

Permanent corrections require separate deletion access when reconnecting. ChatGPT can permanently remove only service records and checklist items, after you approve the specific removal. Existing read/write connections cannot delete records. Tire management and saved telemetry use your existing connection permissions.
